About Miguel Gamez-Macias
Miguel Gamez-Macias is an artist based in the Central Valley of California. Miguel has an Associate of Art Degree from Fresno City College, a Bachelor of Studio Art Degree from California State University Fresno, and a Certificate of Marine Biology from the American Museum of Natural History.
Miguel's primary work revolves around the idea of aquatic conservation in relation to the question "What does it mean to love something with the inability to love us back?". Backed by rigorous research and scientific observation, Miguel bases his work on relevant themes of conflict in aquatic ecosystems, while managing to highlight the beauty and importance of it's inhabitants. "I want to establish that we are more than just friends with our environment".
His work takes on disciplines in Ceramic Sculpture, Mixed Media Sculpture, Photography, and Video.
